Don't be fooled by smiling eyes
You have no idea the pain they hide
A culture of being strong is celebrated
Vulnerability is not tolerated
Perceived as weak, shy and meek
Finding the words inside to speak
and voice my truth
Takes courage and pride
But there is so much conflict going on inside
Why can't I just BE
Happy with ME
and ALL that entails
Show up as I am
A sister and friend
and trust that's okay
So here I am
One more day
Doing my best to make being ME okay
